Description

Cult Metal Classics/ Sonic Age Records, Born in the basement of Miss Beat Records in 1987, Dark Deception burst onto the York, Pennsylvania Thrash Metal Scene. Blending influences from Slayer, Metallica, Forbidden and many others, Dark Deception quickly gained a rabid and loyal following. With Rusty Hann on vocals, Bil Meadowcroft on Bass, John Burgess on drums, John Golzari and Robby Anderson on guitars, the quintet began writing their own music and entered the studio in 1988. With their release of "Sadistic Intentions" demo, Dark Deception began to attract international attention from fans and fanzines. Their demo was met with rave reviews from Europe to Asia to South America and as far away as Australia. Grey Matter Magazine ranked their demo in their top 20 Honorable Mentions where Majesty (now Dream Theater) and Alice In Chains were also in the Top 20. 1989 saw the band relocate to Baltimore, MD where Jerry Koulastis joined as drummer and Nick Neghandi on bass. Robby Anderson became the vocalist with fellow guitarist John Golzari sharing duties. They entered the studio in the fall of 1989 and recorded the demo “Tales of Dark Deception”.
